Exiled: Chris Moscardelli, SOO Green

Head of Production - Proximo
Today we are Exiled with Chris Moscardelli, Chief Financial Officer at SOO Green, a transmission developer creating a first-of-its-kind infrastructure project that will connect the midwestern (MISO) and eastern (PJM) power markets and enable the delivery of 2,100 MW of renewable energy—enough to power more than 1.5 million homes in the United States.

A registered civil engineer and former banker, Chris leans on those who have helped inspire leadership throughout his career to help him through his Exile.

From his past

Chris had trouble choosing between three former mentors, Jim Brown, Roger Bredder and Jeff Wood; all three were Managing Directors in the Project Finance Group at Societe Generale when he was beginning his career as a banker. Chris felt that he could not choose between the three- they were all equal mentors to him and have helped shape and drive the work  he does today.

From his present

He chose Ed Stern, CEO of Powerbridge, a transmission development company which owns the  Neptune Project and the Hudson Project, both operating transmission lines in the New York City area.  A standout leader, Chris describes Ed as extremely skilled at what he does and a genuinely interesting and enjoyable person to be around; always good to get along with the people you have Exiled alongside you!

For the Future

Chris chose Michael Bloomberg, Former Mayor of New York City and co-creator of Bloomberg LP.  Bloomberg’s leadership style, vision, and ability to drive positive change beyond the energy sector are all an inspiration and reminder to think big, adapt to change, and lead with purpose.

Bonus Round

The conversation closes on a personal note, with Chris sharing hopes of one day partnering with his brother, Justin Moscardelli. acknowledging their complementary skills and mutual enthusiasm for entrepreneurship. Although they haven’t yet found the right business opportunity, he sees potential for impactful collaboration, reflecting the broader themes of mentorship, teamwork, and innovation that run through his career!

Catch Chris and the rest of the US Project Finance community at Proximo Congress 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee this week!
