Ministerial bombshell causes IPP uncertainty in South Africa

The Energy Minister has announced all independent power producers must renegotiate their previously agreed tarrifs down to 77cents per kwh if they want to sign PPAs with Eskom. The pronouncement places a question mark over 27 projects representing at least R60 billion in capital expenditure.
